In India, the economic situation is such, that a large part of the population lives below the poverty line ($1.25 USD per day).
Unfortunately in December 2011 the area around the township was hit by flooding from a cyclone that caused material damage and loss of life, and destroyed homes or sources of income for many residents.

LOCAL ORGANIZATION PROGRAMS
The activities that will be described bellow are common activities in the differents programs of local organizations of the country. The effective implementation of the activities will depend by the specific program direction, as HOLA GANA has no authority to act on them.
 DAY CARE CENTERWomen can bring their children in the morning and pick them up after work. You will help by assisting program teachers. The center offers a positive, educational environment for children while reducing stress for working parents. |  MICROFINANCE PROGRAMYou will help by giving workshops to raise awareness about HIV, hygiene, violence against women, etc., to different groups. With loans from this program, women can improve their families quality of life, educate their children, improve their health and nutrition, and give them a better future. |  NIGHT CLASSES WITH CHILDRENNight school reinforcement with different groups of children from low-income areas to improve their ability to learn and communicate |
