VOLUNTEERING IN COLOMBIA

Colombia is a country with rich biodiversity thanks to it’s topography (Three mountain range, savannahs, jungles, deserts, plains and more). Its people; warm and passionate, thankful and hard working. Among the most important natural resources we find coffee, flowers and a great variety of tropical fruits. Other activities, like the exploration of coal, oil, gold and emeralds make a important basis in the colombian economy.

Ciudad Bolivar is number 19 locality of Bogota D.C. This area is one of the places where marginal neighborhood prevails. Ciudad Bolivar is declared as a red zone by authorities; but Ciudad Bolívar is within turist destinations thanks to the effort of young men and also many historic places of this district of Bogota city. The mayority of the territory is rural.

This area in Bogotá is recognized for large social problems headed by violence, caused mostly by different gangs and violent groups. Ciudad Bolivar have the greatest criminality index in Bogota.

LOCAL ORGANIZATION PROGRAMS

The activities that will be described bellow are common activities in the differents programs of local organizations of the country. The effective implementation of the activities will depend by the specific program direction, as HOLA GANA has no authority to act on it.

SCHOOL REINFORCEMENT Collaborate with teachers supporting kids with their homework and developing different workshops and activities	PLASTIC ARTS Support teachers in one or different projects, contributing value and entertaining kids throught creativity	ASSIST HOMELESS Accompany in night brigades, dignifying homeless people through active listening, giving clothes and food
HOME BUILDING Reform or construction of housing with the support of other volunteers to improve the living conditions of families in low-income sectors of the capital
