VOLUNTEERING IN COLOMBIA

Colombia is a country with rich biodiversity thanks to it’s topography (Three mountain range, savannahs, jungles, deserts, plains and more). Its people; warm and passionate, thankful and hard working. Among the most important natural resources we find coffee, flowers and a great variety of tropical fruits. Other activities, like the exploration of coal, oil, gold and emeralds make a important basis in the colombian economy.

Ciudad Bolivar is number 19 locality of Bogota D.C. This area is one of the places where marginal neighborhood prevails. Ciudad Bolivar is declared as a red zone by authorities; but Ciudad Bolívar is within turist destinations thanks to the effort of young men and also many historic places of this district of Bogota city. The mayority of the territory is rural.

This area in Bogotá is recognized for large social problems headed by violence, caused mostly by different gangs and violent groups. Ciudad Bolivar have the greatest criminality index in Bogota.

TESTIMONIALS

My experience in Colombia was very valuable at all levels, but especially at a personal and social level. I have returned, and I feel much more complete, for having known realities so different from mine, and so first hand

NATALIA, Málaga

To be the first volunteer trip that I do on this scale, I must say that it has been very useful in terms of experiences ... The experience has been the beginning of something new, and I thank you for the opportunity you have given us.
